I did an inventory of my staple goods earlier this afternoon. If I had
to I could probably live for a good two weeks on what I've got. I'd be
eating a lot of pasta & sauce, potatoes, canned veggies & fruit,
with farina for breakfast. I've also got some tuna, both in cans and
pouches, canned chicken, and canned salmon so I think I'd do okay. I also have lots of canned fruit of one sort or another and 7 bags of powdered milk.  I
offered it to my daughter to use if she wanted, especially the tomato
& pasta sauce but she wasn't interested, it all contains sugar in
one form or another. I have to laugh when she says that because she
downs cookies like they're going to all disappear off the face of the
earth. Oh well, at least I don't have to worry about her using my food
storage items.

This also let me know just what I need to concentrate on getting for my food storage program.

Always good to know what you have and how long you think it would last.  We would do okay and I have two cases of MRE's put up.  So that alone is a 12 day supply.  A lot of calories in one of those packets and the wife and I could prob split one for each meal.  I recent gave a MRE meal to a kid that I had since 1985 dark brown packet and he survivied cool so I guess it was still good.

Molly, I thought you were stocking up on dried beans some.

All I have been buying here is milk and bread.  I bought some cookies and some canned greenbeans.  My stock of greenbeans was getting low.  So if I buy a gallon of on Wed I get 15% off.  This town has tax on food and county tax on food so that adds up to like 4% near as I can figure it.  I need a little sugar in diet so one cookie aday should do that.

I have a chicken leg qtr on boiling, that will give me meat for3 or 4 days. I have been baking breadrolls here last few weeks.  Made cinnamon rolls with it one time.  I been sharing it with my son and his wife.  I need sugar and flour and it is att he old house to get moved.  Just brought one part of sack of flour and no sugar and I bought a pound to get me baking till I get mine up here.  I had some brown sugar.  Been eating from the pantry and freezer.I am plannin to continue this for awhile.  We will go to big city about once a month.  I will have to gave like 6 weeks on hand to not buy at the high store here.  There is Family Dollar here and canned veggies such as this one has is .50 a can.  Greenbeans, peas and corn it looks like.

Here if it storms bad on the pass could be longer.  I am going to try and cut it to just milk.  Reminds me I need cook the squashes and the freeze part each time.  I did not get little one as more food in the bigger ones.  But not the huge squash.  They were on sale.  I can eat squash okay.  I have to limit greenbeans and peas measure them.

I like beans and chilli .  I am using a new electric stove here.  Am learning to use it.  Bigger over but smaller stove.  Came with house and I have my own fridge/freezer.  I guess Molly you have to adjust to stove each time you move.  ?   Brand new stove here.  Frist rolls browned more on bottom than the top.  But not burnt.  I am not sure if saving baking as a takes eggs and milk but has the food value in it.  This recipe is workinmg out good.  I asked son if he wanted me to continue giving them some and he said yes and it tasted good.

Right now I do not have a match on the place and have one candle.  Need to  bring then up and more candles and lamps.  I will get moved yet.

Molly ,it does take time to build up a stock of things.
