So we have our foundation stock now for the rabbit project, but they need a good shelter for the winter.
There's an old shed in the back yard that's plenty big enough, but structurally it needs some serious help, like a roof that doesn't leak and walls that don't have holes in them.
As much as I would love to tackle this project myself,it's needs are beyond the reach of my two days off,and with the unpredictable fall rains here, you never know when you're actually going to be able to do any work.
SO,I enlisted the help of a friend who has much more knowledge of construction than I,and more free time.
He's finishing the roof this morning before the rain moves back in,then next weekend if it's not raining he's going to replaces the walls and build the new doors.
He's making a dutch door so I can open one or all parts for fresh air,and making a heavy duty screen door so that when it's nice enough I can leave the dutch door open and just lock the screen(he's using livestock panels)so the rabbits can enjoy the weather in safety from the local predators.
When it's done I'll have to paint it,but that's about it.
So far it looks like he's doing a good job at the work,he's a little down on his luck, and I wanted to help him out without just handing him some cash, this way it works out good for both of us.
